Alexa Wilton is a Licensed Independent Social Worker-Clinical Practice who enjoys working with middle-schoolers, teens, young women and mothers navigating trauma, anxiety, depression and family and parenting stress. She earned her Bachelors in Psychology from Furman University and Masters in Social Work from the University of South Carolina.
Alexa focuses on working with both children and adults who have experienced sexual abuse and other traumas, struggle with negative self-beliefs and low self-estem, and feel overwhelmed, lost, and stuck. Alexa strives to make her clients feel comfortable and seen as she recognizes how intimidating therapy can be.
Alexa practices from a strength-based, client-centered and trauma-focused perspective and is trained in Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Cognitive Processing Therapy and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy.
Alexa has had the opportunity to work in a variety of settings including mental health and behavioral therapy centers, a Child Advocacy and Sexual Violence Center, and a private practice.
Outside of work, you’ll find Alexa taking trips with her sister, sipping matcha lattes from Methodical, playing at the park with her niece, and running the Swamp Rabbit Trail.
